What is an IP Address

An IP Address is a bunch of numbers that look similar to this: 124.136.56.164. IP Addresses are used to connect computers to each other. This IP Address is assigned by your ISP when you are connected to the Internet. Their is also another IP Address that usually starts with: 192.168. and will look like 192.168.0.165. This number is for your home or local network computers to talk to each other.

What is the difference between a static and dynamic IP address?

There are two types of IP Address you can get. Static and Dynamic. A Static IP address never changes, whereas a Dynamic IP Address does. If you have a dynamic IP address (if you’re not sure, chances are it will by dynamic) this address will change every time you connect or restart your modem.
