The difference between "Apply" and "Ok"

You may have come across the words "Apply" and "Ok" on your computer in some point, but you may not know what is the difference is.

When you click apply, the changes that you have made will be applied or saved, but the window or dialogue box which is open will not close. This allows you to make further changes if necessary, or temporally see changes such as your desktop wallpaper.

On the other hand, when you click Ok, the changes will be saved and the window or dialogue box will close.

So clicking apply and ok do different things such as keep the window open or closes it, but in the end it still saves changes that you make.
